Urban Sports Week Amsterdam is designed to give non mainstream sports a platform and an opportunity to showcase themselves to not only their core communities but also the wider public. A major component of the concept is to showcase the city of Amsterdam and highlight the fact that many of the participating urban sports use outdoor venue’s at various locations throughout the city. Urban sports is about changing your perspective and profiling sports such as BMX, Free Running, Skateboarding, Inline Skating, Wakeboarding and 3x3 Basketball. USWA aims at showing how spectacular and exciting these sports are when packaged together. 2016 saw Amsterdam host the first edition of the Urban Sports Week Amsterdam (USWA). An action packed programme included 47 events spread across 22 different locations. Spectators were able to watch and participate in sports such as Skateboarding, BMX, Free Running, Bouldering, Inline Skating, 3x3 Basketball, Wakeboarding, Panna, Stand Up Paddle, Street Diving, Crossfit and Slacklining. In 2017, the Urban Sports Week will have strong international appeal. The events will take place at striking, central locations in the heart of Amsterdam. This year an extensive and exciting evening program will take place at various locations throughout the city.

With approximately 100.000 visitors the first edition of Urban Sports Week Amsterdam was a huge success. In 2016 more than 4500 athletes participated in 16 different urban sports disciplines. This summer Amsterdam will again be at the centre stage of the very best of what urban sports has to offer. Over a period of five days a variety of urban sports events will be held across the city. Spectators will be able to watch and participate in sports such as Skateboarding, BMX, Inline Skating and Dancing. A festival atmosphere will be included with music, dj’s, giant screens and great food. The program will be announced soon.

Amsterdam is the urban sports capital of the Netherlands. During the Urban Sports Week events will take place at striking, central locations in the heart of Amsterdam. Many neighbourhoods and communities welcome urban sports every day throughout the year at established venues. Places such as the Marnixplantsoen and the Olympiaplein are famous among urban sports fans. During USWA many of these venues will be showcased.
